The best sites are actually shops. You need to go to a decent model shop and
see, feel and smell the things, then ask questions of the proprietor.

So the "remote" is probably not a helicopter specific "remote" (It's called
a transmitter btw and heli's have special needs not usually associated with
nitro/electric cars or fixed wing aircraft)

You'll need:-

Transmitter and receiver on 35mhz.
5 servo's
Gyro
Switch and switch harnes
4.8 volt battery
Battery charger
Engine
Exhaust system
Fuel
Fuel pump to get the fuel from your bottle to the heli
Starter to start the heli
12 volt battery to power the starter
Glo plug
Glo plug battery or Glo-panel to power the glo-plug
Box to fit it all into
Field to crash at when you've got all your gear together:-)

www.cyberheli.com I order everything I need from them. Delivery has never
been more than 3 WDs. Prices are MUCH cheaper than domestic.

5 servos (Futaba S148s are good for a beginner - cheap too), a giro (go for
a S/H CSM360 - £30 approx and waaaay better than anything new in this price
range), a starter, patience, helpful advice, the need to be better than your
peers, a bit of good fortune & the ability to say 'no' to the Ninja when the
sun comes out :-)

BTW I'm also a Ninja Nutter (1998 ZX-9R C2)

Shame on you Beav, you forgot the most important item:

The Black Bin Bag to put all the broken bits in!

I forgot mine on Sunday, a real bugger of a job carrying all those little
bits of heli back to the car;o)

Credit cars!! I hate the things. They're only useful if you've got the money
in advance of the bill arriving. If you ain't, then aggro follows.
