Does anyone know about the 8 foot wing span Beaver models that are made by Unionville Hobby Supply (complete wood kit) and the fiberglass fuselage kit ARF made by Kondor Model Products, KMP, both produced in Canada? Thanks.

The "KMP" Beaver is made by ESM in China. I don't know about the other one.

Got one of the Unionville kits....it flys ok..but it's what I would call cartoon scale.
It's in the garage now being de-commissioned...it doesn't exactly excite me.

Try doing a search on RCGroups for a thread titled "Gee Wally...it's a KMP Beaver". It's a build thread and should answer any questions you have. Overall a pretty nice unit (IMO) although a few minor problems that need to be worked out. The instructions leave a bit to be desired. I believe the link to it is http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=852482

Merlin, thanks a million for your reference to Gee Wally, building the 8' wing span KMP Beaver.

Now, I wonder if their 60 inch wind span Beaver is better designed and easier to assemble since it was listed in the KMP catalogue in 2008 !! The 8' wing span Beaver was listed in 2005. Perhaps the smaller Beaver has upgraded assmbly features !!!

I would think not. First, the Beaver they are currently selling is a version 2, much improved from the first one (2nd version is yellow/green). I don't think the instructions are much better, but the landing gear is completely different, (big improvement over the original wire gear) better wing struts, windshield is now 2 piece and attaches from the inside instead of the older 1 piece which attached to the outside with screws. And there are other changes/improvements as well. My friend has the original one and it was somewhat more of a challenge to assemble than mine was. I am presently assembling a new one now, as mine (version 2) was stolen last summer while on holiday. My biggest thing is to change out the hardware that's included, I am not impressed with the hardware package that comes with it. I'd like to add here that Paul at KMP was very helpful whenever I had a problem, even sending out a new fuselage when I complained about the windshield openings on my original kit. Good customer support.
I'll be putting my new one on Seacommander floats like my previous one. I've never been big on ARF's and to be honest, this new one will only be my second one. But overall, I think it's a pretty good value for the price. I'm sure some will disagree. A couple of more threads you may want to look at are on the other forum, RCU. I don't have the links handy, but search for:
"Show us your Beaver" and "KMP Beaver: Just started, looking for feedback" There are some very nice Beavers on these threads, the guys there did some excellent work putting them together, and a lot of them (the Beavers) are the earlier versions to boot! You can tell by the small round window on the side. One of the threads even has a Turbo Beaver on floats built from a Unionville kit. Looks pretty nice too. A lot of very talented people here on these forums.
