I did post details here (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1016793), but the topic has dropped down so fast and perhaps wasn't spotted by anyone knowledgeable with these motors.
Sometimes the specs of a motor are optimistic and I'd like to know if the Hacker A80 would power a 1/5 scale 25lb (11kg) model of a Hawker Hurricane well or should I go for a more powerful motor (A100 or A150)?

Hey Doug,
I'm doing a Top Flight Giant Scale P-51 right now... it should be around 25 pounds ready to fly...
For a warbird I feel you want a bit higher KV than say a 3D plane.
warbirds are fast.. you wouldn't want a slug in the air...
The Hacker 80-8 (218 kv) should do very well...
But you should also look at the AXI 5345 series... lots of conversion have been do with this motor. Im using the 5345-14.. it will pull my mustang like crazy and the higher KV will be nice and fast
The 5345-16 has been used more often nice part is you can use a 110 amp ESC not the 200 amp like I have to use.
Here is a great video of the 5345-16 in action in a 25 pound P-51... you can see it clearly has more power than the DA-50 and sounds a lot better:

Also with the 5345-16 you can use 5000 mah packs and still get a 5:00 flight at full throttle .. with the hacker 80 your going to need more Mah to get a decent flight time.. which will just add weight and cost
if you decided to try either call there techs.. there all pretty good at telling you what prop and ESC to use for the plane you want to fly..
for the AXI call hobby lobby
hacker just call them direct... I have a hacker in a 60 sized P-51 and it's just a great motor
shoot I bet the hacker 60-14L would do just fine.. 3D guys are flying 50cc sized planes with it and out performing a DA-50
Lots of ways to go.. research them all
I'd check with reaper motors to.. they have some hot setups: http://www.reaperbrushless.com/html/motors.html
hope that helps

I have a hanger 9 sundowner with the 5345/14 axi motor and th castke creation 110 ESC and i run only 3300mah batteries (my 5000mah should come in next week)
i get a good 6-7 min flight time on my 16x13 epc prop only pulling 56amps full throttle and i fly in 85% full throttle
GREAT MOTORS (I OWN TWO)
good lucky with your conversion
