We have an INDOOR nitro dirt track here in Michigan now.
The Nitro state championships were held today. (Sun. 03-23-03)
A good time was had by all.
Although I was unable to race, I was there to enjoy the action. I have all my
trucks apart right now, for pre-season maintenance. I will be racing next
weekend though. Any S.E. Michigan R/C'ers out there that would enjoy some
weekend racing, Feel free to email me anytime and let me know... I would be
glad to meet up, and race with ya.
For those that are wondering, (I know I was wondernig) HOW do they deal with
all the fumes? They have HUGE aircraft-type fans built into the windows, and
positioned all around the track area to draw the exhaust fumes out of the
building. You can still smell the nitro a little, but the fumes aren't really
bad in there.
I WILL start wearing some ear protection though.
When the 1/8th scale buggies hit the straights, the noise can get almost
painfull.
For me, one of the best things is... they have the most fully stocked hobby
shop that I have ever seen. It's great to have a nearby source for parts and
supplies for a change.
Additionally, their prices for kits, fuel, and parts rivals Tower Hobby, and no
shipping charges. Woo-Hoo
(I do not work for these people, nor do I have any intention, or have anything
to gain from advertising for them. I just thought some in the group would be
interested in the info & photos.)
Check out their website here:

While there, check out the prices for weekday practice track time... $3.00/hr
or $5.00 for ALL DAY. Pretty reasonable.
The photos do not do this track justice. The track itself is mach larger than
the pics would suggest. The surface is hard packed, "blue-groove" and kept in
excellent condition.
