Hi guys
Its my first post on here, so hello to everyone from the wet and mostly grey UK! :D
I have quite a few nitro cars so am not a complete noob, but I have a question that so far has baffled me as to the answer. I have a thunder tiger ssk v2 that i bought for my girlfriend, and have got it all cleaned and prepared for her to use, everything seems fine, except two things, I wondered if you guys could help?:
1) The steering works fine, albeit a bit stiff when the servos arent attached (the Ace servos installed have no problem turning the wheels whilst motionless on a hard wood floor) but when i compress the shocks, i get massive "bumpsteer" as in the front wheels point inwards as soon as the shocks are compressed.
I had this on the mgt once and found turnbuckles were on the wrong side of the hubs, as in above rather than below them, but this actually seems to be set up according to the manual (although it is pretty vague!) so have no idea why this is, is it something to do with the ballstuds being too tight, as these were replaced? It is the only thing i could think of, but i am sure i got the correct part number (the correct part in the manual shows ballstuds from the thunder tiger dt10-they seem to fit fine) and apart from this steering is set up according to the manual. The steering draglink connecting the two sides is very close to the front diff output but i think again this is how the manual suggests it should be. Does anyone have any detailed pics of their set up or any idea why this would happen?!
2) I think I have an airleak in the engine. As soon as i started the truck despite the fact that carb/throttle linkage had been set up and idle was about 1 mm (maybe a little more) and carb was back to factory settings (a bit rich if anything) when i started the truck it wanted to just rev into oblivion (also i had to draw fuel by blowing through the exhaust outlet, as it didnt want to suck up fuel) and nothing i did to the tranny (i.e. brake to shut off carb to idle, adjust idle and low speed, main needle did anything  checked the seal on the tank, seems ok, checked the carb, found a tiny air leak, but not enough i would have thought for this to happen; engine is a tt pro .18; any ideas on why this happens?! I found the exhaust gasket was in pieces so this may have let air in, as it let fuel out ....would this have this extreme effect?!
Thanks for replies!!!
Pete
