HL, just got the new vairable pitch prop. It looks incredible, but it is not very adjustable. The slots for the blades are preventing the blades from rotating. I can see where the space was provided for movement where the screw goes in, but the slots are preventing the blades from rotating. Is there something else I should be doing?

Yes, you will need to cut the tab off of the props to allow them to rotate.
Thanks,

Not good Jason, for a prop that costs 2x other 3 blade I should not have to to cut anything to modify it to make it conform to advertised specifications. I will be sending it back for a refund.

That is no different than boring out a prop hub to fit a prop adapter. It takes all of 30 seconds to cut off the tabs to be able to adjust the pitch. This is a hobby after all. It's also not a modification and is how the manufacturer intended it to be. I don't see how we falsely advertised anything here. It even comes with a pitch adjustment tool. It's an incredible piece of engineering with awesome scale details and decals at a fair price. It does exactly what we say it does.
Thanks,

OK Jason, fair enough. I was just a bit disappointed with the variable pitch part. I understand the part of reaming out props to fit, but this is a bit more complicated. I am concerned that now that I cut the ends off, the screws and plastic will not hold up under load. I am going to try it. I hope you understand. I would like to see if the decals are available separately. I apologize for the strong reaction; I was just not pleased at first. I will try it though. Regards

I have to add my 2 cents...since I was caught by surprise at the really poor instructions . I was also confused about the tabs preventing the blade from rotating. Thanks to HL Customer Support for clearing that up on their quick reply to my question.
However, I'm also concerned about the blades remaining at the desired pitch under load.
In the future I'd like to suggset somebody at HL take the time to review the original mfr instructions and rewrite them if neccessary - in terms that make a little more sense.
Best regards

What is the actual prop hub hole diameter? I'm trying to figure out if I need a new prop hub adaptor for it. Any photos of one disassembled?
Thanks,
Mike

The hole diameter is 6mm.
It is best to use the SMP prop shaft adapters to go with that prop.
Not many prop shaft adapters are long enough to accomodate the thickness of the hub assembly.
