Hi violentj,

I couldn't help noticing, none of the adds for this boat mention it's running weight.
This is a give away, that the hull is quite heavy, limiting the weight of an upgrade.

If you plan on making the boat faster with brushless motors and Lipo's, keep in mind you'll only use the hull and maybe the propshafts, if you can fit 'normal' props, either dog-drive or 4mm threaded ones.
Next to that, for tanksteering, like the original boat has, you'll need two ESC's and a radio, that either has more channels and/or a mixing function, or use a standard two channel radio and run the two motors off the throttle channel (Y-harness) and add a rudder and servo for steering.

For a hull that size you'll need something like this:

And two ESC's to match.

This kind of upgrade will exceed the price of the boat several times...

The RR2 is a hobby grade boat & parts can be change fairly easily as long as they fit in the already small hull.

When you do a project like this regardless of what boat hull you want to do it with, you have to realize that you mite be putting in more money then what it originaly cost.

My RR2 is stock HULL, RUDDER, PROP, SHAFT, COUPLER, SERVO, the only change is motor, esc, receiver & lipo. These changes are enough to surpass the purchase price by more then double maybe even tripple. LOL

BUT ALL WORTH IT WHEN YOU SEE IT IN REAL LIFE. This video does not do it justice, you should see this thing in rough waters, HILARIOUS.

Most anything is possible if you have enough money.

Speed costs, how fast do you want to go?

Hi Vio,

Due to the size, weight, hull geometry (steps vs smooth hull) and propulsion system differences, that will be an illusion...
As for the 50mph, that is going to be no problem with the right motors, cornering a stepped hull at that speed will present somewhat of a challenge.
I would incorporate a floodchamber, so the hull will self right after a flip (assuming the plastic hull will survive a flip at 50 mph).
