Hey guys,

Warmer weather is around the corner and I am currently designing my new wing for this summers flying.

This might be an obscure queston, but if I am looking for a wide speed envelope for a 42" 1 lb wing. Could someone refer me to any particular motor/prop combos to achieve good speed? I am hoping to get 100mph...

The test motor I will be using can be found in the picture below, with details found at the posted url.

Thankyou in advance,

ApachePilot

No idea about how it relates to wings as the aerodynamics are vastly different and methinks you'll have waaaaay less drag; but i do have a 35-30C in a HZ Super Cub. I think that I can get about 40 to 50 mph on 3s. and I'm just judging that by the fact that I pass cars on the road adjacent to where i fly. I know that the guys that use a 35-36 in the supercub or PZ Corsair are all blown away by the speed they get. I would think that if you went that route, that your wing would scream.

That set up will get you around 40mph at best .I fly a 32in wing 2800kv motor 3cell lipo and at best 60to70mph. hope that helps Robert

yep, thanks Robert.

Do you know of any motors in the same weight range you would recommend?
With higher Kv rating?

How about something like this?

Look for something around 2000 to 2800 kv. also look at dr kiwi's sticky on motors in the motor section. There are many combos out there that would work for your setup. type wildwing in the wing section for starters. hope that helps Robert

I think the LS Super Parkjet is on sale at Hobby Lobby - that is a pretty lightweight motor that should be able to push that wing pretty fast. And there's Don's Wicked too, I don't know what the upper weight limit is on that one for speed though. Keeping the weight down will let you slow way down too.

HET 4W from www.warbirds-rc.com on a 6x4 or 5.5x4.5 prop will get you in the neighborhood of 100mph on a 3S lipo. For a $50 motor, they are excellent.
