G'Day Guys

Just a small note to say I'm clearing out all my Magazines, some dating back to 1970's

Mostly I have Model Boats, Marine Modelling International, R/C Boat Modeller with a few others lying around. 1991 onwards with a few gaps when the last bunch got nabbed

Over 250 issues to get rid of up to Jan 09. Some still have plans in tact.

Anybody keen on any of these I can let you have them for the cost of postage. The remainder go to an R/C Swap-Mart on the 14th

PM me if you are looking for a particular issue & I'll see what we can do.

Cheers

John

Hey John,

How about Marine Modelling International May 04?

I'd have to look through the back issue listings to see if there is
anything else I might be interested in.

Thanks for giving us first dibs.

Gee, what a coincidence.... :p

Thanks John, You are totally Awsome!

Perhaps, Marine Modelling International December 92, also
if it's in your stacks. :)

.
.
.

I'm a little sad though, Marine Modelling International does not
list their back issues by date and articles. You have to search the
data base and hope for a hit. So I can't browse the list for
intersting articles. :(

It's a bit sad when someone finally decides to let their old hobby magazine collection go---. ;)

But then, you have to reduce the clutter some time or another. :o

Maybe I should get rid of my pile of Scale Ship Modeler---? :)

Hee hee... I have a few holes in my SSM collection to fill!

Brings up a philosophical/Zen-like question, which has direct application to the publishing industry... can we move from a backwards-looking attachment to artifacts of the past (e.g., binders full of printed magazines), to a live-for-the-moment approach (e.g., the more ephemeral world of online forums)?

My problem with the online world is its lack of permanence... it troubles me that all the experiences and info posted here is quickly gone like water under the bridge, whereas I can always go back to the old printed stuff, even 30 years later. Sure I can search archives online, but 30 years from now?

Of course, while I like having the old mags on the shelf, they mostly stay there untouched... so I'm not sure about their real value! The Japanese revere the cherry blossom for its beauty (here's the Zennie part), yet appreciate its fleeting existence... so live for the moment!
(and let go of those old mags... I can take care of a few of them for you...)

Hi, waboats. Please check your Private Messages.

It's very considerate of you to "recycle" your magainzes in a way that will help other hobbyists. Thank you.

Cheers,

Yes, that is what has been holding me back on disposing of all that stuff, the internet's lack of real permanence that you can fall back on---. :o

Just a small clarification.

I'm located in OZ (Australia), so I can only do paymnts by Paypal. If I was in US these would be free to good home.

HIMI is where I go every few years to escape. http://www.afma.gov.au/fisheries/antarctic/himi/default.htm

After 30 years or more the Magazines have had to make way for new projects. Spare Room & Workshop is chockers & space has become a premium. Need the spare room for a sick relative. Something had to give.

I can always source more later if needs be.

Cheers

I'd be happy with whatever you want to send, especially if theres stuff in there about techniques for building, maintaining, powering, etc. your boat. If that encompasses all of the magazines then perhaps I should just say I express interest in anything regarding military models of any vintage.

Not sure you realise there are nearly 300 mags.. To post (say $2 an issue) would be a big burden, but if you really want to, I can send them..

All mags cover something of a military theme somewhere. Send PM with Paypal details & I'll arrange invoice to cover postage (as perPost #1) & we'll go from there.

Maybe you can be more specific if you really would like something more particular. Perhaps going through back issues would be a start. Check the file provided above :)

Just to let you know. Those that requested Mags, especially ones with the Plans Intact, they are on the way. Should arrrive within 10 days.

We'll sort something out once they arrive. I'm off sailing Micro Magic's for the next few days so I apologise if I can't get back to you.

Anything left over (which I expect will be quite a few) will go to the R/C Swap Mart on 14th

Wouldn't happen to have MMI May '96 issue would you? I'm after the build up of the Voodoo powerboat.. I started building it about 5 years ago with my grandad but lost that issue so it ground to a hault.

Thanks in advance.
