By the way, check the prices of UK based shops that carry Prop Shop props.. and look at the exchange rate to see if its worth getting them in the UK or over here in the US.

Now I know why I couldn't find them. Honestly thought they had keeled over. Wonder if they still have a catalog?

Propshop seems hard to contact although I did receive an e-mail back just before Xmas. The fellow does attend the shows over there - friend in UK generally gets his props from him at those. Incidentally, Burnaby Hobbies has an order coming from Holland - Raboerch (sp) props - a variety of 3, 4 blades. Expects them end of March if you are interested.

I'd be interested but he doesn't seem to have a website and long distance from Orlando to Burnaby is a bit much. Thanks for mentioning it.

Not sure if they'd find what you're after if they just walked in... it's not like a huge factory operation!
But in the US, Harbor carries a fair selection at reasonable rates:

Maybe haggle, remind Dave how low the pound is!

All this talk about assembled versus cast props has got me wondering which is less prone to failure or loss of a blade, silver soldered or brazed? I'm thinking silver soldered....

ive only seen one from propshop but i think they ore one piece or very well brazed. i couldnt see any seams at all.

"Silver soldered" IS brazed... if one goes by the official definition, based on filler melt temperature.

Plain solder may well be what's used in the soldered props... but I've NEVER had one come loose, except for the time I tried machining the blade tips down in my lathe...

No question, the cast bronze props just look waaay better.

I inadvertently ruined one of my Raboesch props by it turning at full rpm while caught in its trolley, they are soft soldered, 2 blades tore the brass at the base, one blade failed at the solder joint and the last blade bent over itself but didn't come out, Even soft soldered props are very strong :D

The Prop Shop are a full casting and works of art

I agree the Prop Shop props are works of art! :)

The only times I have had silver soldered props come apart is when I hit a rocky bottom at high speed.

Q:"how close to shore can you get it?"
A:"watch this..."  :o

All of these fabricated props now have me curios. When did Dumas switch over from cast to Roboesch?
