Huh. thanks guys! I like the superstructure better than the hull. THe superstructure looks like a space ship or something.

Nowadays everything looks like a Burke!! What a waste!!! The Perrys, even with their limitations and the occasional crack could have filled this roll nicely. Dont even need the ram, it replaces the CIWS.

She is not a pretty boat by any stretch. I saw her launched and up close in Milwaukee. Doesn't win style points but in an age where all cars look alike can you really fault them for her looks. The A-10 and Stuka were butt ugly aircraft but they were best in class.

For the mission the Perry class is too big 445' x 45' x 4100 tons, LCS 379' x 43' x 3000 tons, too old - retrofitting new mission package system problematic, and too crew intensive. LCS 50 crew, FFG 200 crew.

Sorry, I felt the need to stick up for Freedom as she is Wisconsin built and Like I said I was at her launching.

Just noticed the G-tug working the launch... great stuff!
I think she looks purpose-built, and that works for me...

Pat,

Selvick Marine Towing worked the launch. GLT escorted USS freedom to the dock in Milwaukee.
