Hi,
I have a question about Esky Belt CP main shaft retaining collar position.

http://www.twf-sz.com/english/pic/pj/0505_sml.jpg

I am talking about that aluminium collar at the left...

There is a little free play when I pull the head up or push it down. It's not much. It's about 1 or 2 mm.
So the question is if I should pull it all the way up before tightening the collar screw. Or if I should push it all the way down. Or try to leave it in the middle...
As far as I understand it affects pitch a bit. Not sure if it makes any other difference... :)

You want to secure the collar so there is no vertical movement on the main shaft without putting stress on the bearing.

I see. So it looks like I need to pull it gently up without applying a force and then secure it.
Thank you.

That is correct. There should be no up/down slop.
