View Full Version : Alert Take Care Ordering from AK Models!

If you order a giant scale model from AK Models, take care on the shipping. He has a clause in there that says all models ship FedEx at VERY HIGH rates but it is also possible to select USPS rates for WAY less money, which shows up as the default chioce by the way. This doesn't kick out in his system like it should. In other words, it allows you to select the cheaper shipping but also allows it to take it for a model which should have kicked it out as not allowable. So, you can set yourself up for a somewhat hidden charge when you get your CC bill weeks later. He is very cagey aobut this and will not address the fact that he cannot show one TOTAL charge on the checkout yet charge another, higher charge on your CC. I told him he needs to AT LEAST, make further contact to say that he will be charging the INCREASED shipping rate to make sure you are aware of the extra charges. The shipping rate is $100 by the way vs $35 USPS. So, this is not a small matter. He gives an overall discount which drops that total down to about $60.
I am not saying I didn't get what I ordered nor in an untimely manner. Just a BIG surprise on the CC bill.
Anyway, a word to the wise.

If you have an invoice or order conf. that shows an amount different from what was charged to your credit card, your credit card servicer will be happy to help have the bogus charges removed should the vendor be less than 102% up front and helpful when you attempt to work with them.

What was the out come?

VISA said "We have concluded our investigation and the case was found in your favor. The provisional credit we issued to your account is now permanent."
I tried to reason with the guy. I would have worked something out that would have suited us both. Now, he got whatever it said on the web site for shipping which was about $35 I think, vs the $95 he claimed. Seems to me $50 total shipping cost would have been agreeable to me. But too bad. He lost and I won. I told him that before I took action and got nothing but "silence" on his end. Oh well.
The guy had, IMHO, a deceptive web site with shipping prices that made it look like you were getting a square deal. He claimed he had various warnings and stuff about shipping LARGE models that overrode the listed prices, but I must have overlooked them. I mean, does anyone read all the red tape on any web site? It's like the licensing agreement for MS Word that runs on 5 pages! No way! He sent me TWO separate receipts with the $35 shipping price and let it go at that. Then, without any warning, he charged my CC the extra $60!!! Quite wrong and I guess VISA saw my point.
Anyway, nuff said about that. Hope that covers it. LBJ

I use to supply Alex with crrc engines untill I got sick last Oct. and ended up in the hospital for 6 weeks. He was paying me through paypal and while I was in the hospital he disputed every payment he made to me and got them through because I had no way of checking email and was to sick to . He owes me over 2000.00 and refuses to pay me. I even offered to take it in airplanes but he refused. This man is a thief and I am looking into charging him with fraud

Up date to the money he stole from me. I came up with the paper work of all the engines he owes me for, his original order and the usps shipping number so I called him yesterday about it. His machine picked up the phone call so I started to leave a message. In the middle of the message he picked up the phone and told me not to call him again. He owes me over 2000.00 and this is what he says to me. This man is nothiing but a thief and he belongs in jail. What he did was straight out fraud and I will have him charged and arrested. bcdiscount,
I've been very fortunate in buying things over the phone for the last 20 years and the net for the last 5 years. I've had a few purchases that I thought were in the toilet but finally got them delivered. Not all people march to the drummer that I do. I feel if you make a sale, it should be for the stated amount, no whining, and get it shipped within 24 to 48 hours if possible.
I think it pays to "get a feel" for whom you are soing buisiness with first. If I were to lose a few hunderd $$$ along the way, I am not happy about it but it could be worse. As in your case for several K$$. Sorry about that for you. LBJ

LBJ, very sad part is that you are celebrating your own cheating abilities. I state on the shipping page (as you mention it) that all kit have to ship by FedEx, especially giant scale kits, as it is impossible to ship them with USPS. It is also clearly stated that you will be charged FedEx rate if incorrect shipping is selected. You KNEW it and KNOW now, that you did cheat. Although you have won credit card dispute, I am sure you will not be contacting me for spare parts etc. It is rare that someone come out on line to confess and brag about how they cheated….. Good job.

Complete communication log is below if you like to read “fine print”.
Also read from bottom up.

You don't get it!
*
The BILL SAYS $296.70!!!! Where is the accountability? It's all online in your system. Where is your integrity? My receipt says one thing and you bill another. That's (omitted bad words as per RC Groups reuirments). when I see the final total and AGREE to the price, then that's a binding deal. You can't just tack on a charge without notifying me. I don't care what you think or it says somewhere else.
*
I will be sure to post this onte E-Zone models section to alert eveyone else of your deceptive practices.
*
I will also turn it over to my attorney on retainer for his input.

Like I say, if the TOTAL price on the end of the bill says $297.70, and your system has it all locked in with the proper charges for each item, then how can you honestly charge me $355.07. If what I selected for shipping (don't know if that's the case or not) was incorrect, then why didn't it kick out before the end of the process? Also, why did you not notice the descrepancy and notify me before hand? I suspect that the ACTUAL charges shows up on your end but not mine. If that's the case, then shame on you.

You receipt I printed out shows 296.70 with shipping. How can you dispute that? That's pretty deceptive. If there is no other option, why is there a choice of shipping? Why the deception?

Barry, you know and I know what you said here is not true either…
You in fact supplied me with some engines until you started to be paid and not shipping engines…. And later turns out you not only not shipping my engines for me, you also ship some used once to my customers. I did stop payment on engines that were never received by my customers, no tracking were ever provided nothing delivered. You call me fraud? See this:

And this:

Maybe more out there? Any comments?

so, just because I was curious, I went over the AK-models.com, put a Zero in my basket, and went to checkout. I put in my personal info and hit continue, and this is what popped up:

I'd say that this made it pretty easy for me to make some judgements about this thread.

I dealt with Alex ( AK Models ) and he fixed my problem with damaged parts, it took a month, but he did replace the parts.
As far as Barry goes, I have not dealt with him personally, but everything I have read and some arguements that I have had with him on thread on FG's website, he seems bad news and I would deal NOT with him. Sleepy banded him ( all of his different member names ) from FG's.
He was doing fake post and building us himself, his website and his service with different member names that he made up.
Even on this website, look at this thread starting from post #8 ( http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=914105 )
If you are a straight shooter, have good service, good products, the good reputation will follow you.
As we can see the reputation is following you.......
