Hi all

I'm an engineering student currently working on a solar powered r/c
boat project. I'm looking at ways to power the boat but I am having some
problems i hope you guys can help with.

How would you seal the hole created for a prop shaft to stop water from
leaking into the hull?

I hope someone can help.

Cheers

Some people just use a bit of silicone fuel tube that goes over the
stuffing tube. As I use a flex shaft in all my boats the rotation will
push water out and the coils are in a spiral.

What you're looking for is called a "stuffing tube" or "stuffing
box". It's standard equipment on any inboard boat or ship, of any
size. Basically, it's a tube mounted into the hull, with bearings or
bushings at either end. Instead of being empty (i.e. full of air), it
gets packed with grease.
