Hi,

I was looking, quite a while ago for a good Pc-9 but at that time nothing really suited what I wanted. Didn't want a foam model so the Ultrafly one, although good from what I've read, is not what I'm looking for. The Seagull 63" was way too big and I was gonna blow the budget if I got one. The V-mar one I heard was not so great, bad covering, bad flyer, looking at the price not too surprised.

But, I have now found a 50" wingspan Electric Pc-9 by seagull. I'm saved, perfect size, good quality considering the good reviews of the larger one and not too expensive. ARF is only 50 quid, and for once something I'm looking for is in stock.

However, looking around no one has posted anything about this smaller seagull pc-9. Does it live up to the its bigger brother? Has anyone here got one, share some info and experience?

Thanks,
Dylan

let me tell you, I have model and i can say it punches well above its weight. Its so nice to fly and has no nasty bites in it. It is a great model. the only bad point is that is has fixed U/C but you don't notice that.

I had one of those about eighteen months ago. I took a week off work and built it then, flew it once and sold it. I just didn't like the way it flew.

There was a spar broken out of the box and when I took it to the LHS knowing that they'd think that I had done it, they opened another one and it was broken in exactly the same place.

I also had a problem installing the wing bolts. Although the manual makes it look easy, they don't include the fixed battery tray in their photo. Not so easy with it in the way though.

I'm not saying don't get one. I just didn't like how it flew myself.

If you do, be sure to use a BEC that can support five servos (the steerable nosewheel needs the extra servo).

apparently the one you can buy today is version 2 with a few changes.

The other one in the range that is well worth going for is the Decathlon. A good size and flies well on a £35 motor and esc combo. It got a good review in RCM & E and I fully agree with it. It's funny that you should say that the other one punches above it's weight because that's how I felt about the Decathlon.

yeah i love the seagull range. the ONE problem (and just one) is no retracts (Excluding the sea fury). other wize you have a selection of all sizes models. i like the look of the decathlon. the very big one im not sure about converting to electric but one of the smaller ones will do.
