Hi, I am planning to build a large Deep Vee boat (approx 50 in.) and I
want to install a gasoline motor, probably a weed eater motor in it. It
happens that these motors stall at times. I want to be able to bring the
boat back to shore easily. I have seen that some boats are using
electric motors as spares to be able to bring back the boat in case of
failure of the gas engine.
Does anyone did that before ? if so, how do you install this second
motor ?
And finally, I figure that you need more than 2 channels to be able to
use this second motor......

Generally, Most people use other methods to retrieve stalled boats.
They can be:

- Full size rescue boat, which can be as simple as an inflatable raft
with oars.
- Fishing rod with a tennis ball and coat hanger hook to cast
out,snag and reel in boat.
- seperate electric rc boat that you can drive out, snag the stalled
boat and steer back in via radio control.

One thing you don't want to do is go swimming for your stalled boat as
that may present an unacceptable level of risk.
