That was the record breaking airplane. Flown at White Sands Missile Range last year in between thunderstorms. :)

Quite a plane and a great crew.

PS yes they had to have airspace clearance and radar tracking. Not an inexpensive flight ;

Here is some more inspiration for the electric plane folks. AeroVironment's 1/4 scale "CPOC" R/C model had a span of 62 feet which led to Helios with a wingspan of nearly 250ft. Helios set the altitude record of 96,863 on Aug 14th, 2001 with solar power. The 1/4 scale model flew in '97.
